Congratulations:

Congratulations to Isac Shelton on the notable accomplishment of obtaining his Missouri Land Surveying License through the Missouri State Board of Professional Registration. Powell and Associates now has two Professional Land Surveyors on staff.

A Professional Land Surveyor renders a highly technical service in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes and court decisions set forth by local, county, state and federal authorities.

Because of the special skills and complexities involved in surveying land, Missouri statutes limit the practice to only those surveyors duly licensed by the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors and Landscape Architects.

In order to protect the public from inferior land surveying, the "Missouri Minimum Standards for Property Boundary Surveys" have been established. These standards describe recommended procedures for a survey and the minimum information to be provided to the client.

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

On Feb. 13, 2009, Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 at the urging of President Obama, who signed it into law four days later. A direct response to the economic crisis, the Recovery Act has three immediate goals: Create new jobs as well as save existing ones, spur economic activity and invest in long-term economic growth and foster unprecedented levels of accountability and transparency in government spending. Construction and repair of roads and bridges is included among the many projects that the Recovery Act will fund. While many of Recovery Act projects are focused more immediately on jump-starting the economy, others, especially those involving infrastructure improvements, are expected to contribute to economic growth for many years.

Powell and Associates is providing professional services for the following ARRA Projects:

·MODOT - Barton County, Route 71: Convert at-grade intersection at Routes DD/EE to interchange.
·MODOT - Barton County, Route 71: Convert at-grade intersection at Routes V/C to interchange.
·MODOT - Pettis County, Route 65: Re-deck three bridges over Cedar and Heath Creeks.
·MODOT - Adair County, Route 63: Six miles of new two-lane roadway on four-lane right-of-way on the  east side of Kirksville.
